Brunch Upon a Time

Change things up this year and take mom for brunch in the magical land of Brooklyn. Brunch has all the treats you need to celebrate Mother’s Day right: Drinks! Pastries! Bacon! Here are three of our fave Brooklyn’ brunch spots for all you mother-lovers to see and be seen sipping on spicy a Bloody Mary with moms.

Five Leaves
Greenpoint
18 Bedford Ave.
(718) 383-5345

Always a bit of a wait on weekends, but a great spot to enjoy a super-strong iced coffee and watch the tattooed tableau vivant stroll by on this busy sidewalk.  Heath Ledger did not live to see his laidback eatery open, but his Aussie spirit lives on in many of the menu’s dishes (think: fried egg on a juicy burger and stiff drinks). If your mom's a baller, she might dig the Big Brekkie, two eggs any style with a side of hash browns and ridiculously thick bacon

Talde
Park Slope
367 7th Avenue
(347) 916-0031

This 7th Ave restaurant hits the sweet spot between Southeast Asian cuisine and American comfort food. Top Chef alum (and mama's boy) Dale Talde created his eclectic menu to highlight the most belly-warming aspects of each tradition: think Breakfast Ramen and Bacon Pad Thai. The atmosphere is casual and ideal for a multi-generational get-together in the borough's most baby-making nabe.

Seersucker
Cobble Hill
329 Smith Street
(718) 422-0444

Just like Mom used to make! Downhome Southern cooking is on the menu here: stoneground grits, real Southern fried chicken, and (duh) buttermilk biscuits and gravy. The space is intimate and just the right atmosphere to sip a mint julep with Mom without all the hubbub of some louder brunch spots.
